Did you know...
What is a Meta Tag? Meta tags are key words or phrases that are embedded into website pages. When a search engine is doing it’s job it will often scan the meta tags that exist in a web page to determine if it is a page that should be displayed in a particular search, and where it should rank in that search. Lets use an example. Pretend there is a company based out of New York City that sells pet supplies online. The name of their company is Pet Products 2 Inc. Their domain

name is petproducts2.com. If someone was searching for a company in New York that sells diet fish food, and a search was done, who knows where petproducts2.com would rank in the search, if it would rank at all. It turns out that petproducts2’s specialty is diet fish food. Proper meta tags using the key phrase of diet fish food, and New York City, would place the petproduct2’s website towards the top of the list. The more specific the search and the more specific the meta tag’s keywords, the higher ranking a website will get. The higher ranking the website gets, the more traffic the website will have.
